Excitement and anticipation had been building up for weeks, as food lovers and industry experts eagerly awaited the unveiling of the 2023 ranking for Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants. After last week’s announcement of the 51-100 list, the full ranking (1-50) has finally been revealed, and it did not disappoint.
This year’s ceremony, marking the tenth edition of the event, was held in Resorts World Sentosa in Singapore and was hosted by the renowned Anita Kapoor. The atmosphere was electric as the audience waited with bated breath to see which restaurants would make it to the coveted top spots.
Last year’s winner, Den, had set the bar high with their exceptional culinary skills, taking the number one spot on the list. However, this year’s results brought about some exciting changes, with Le Du of Bangkok claiming the top spot as the best restaurant in Asia. It was a momentous achievement for the Thai restaurant, and one that was well-deserved.
Chef ThiTid “Ton” Tassanakajohn has two restaurants in the top 50, Le Du at No.1 and Nusara at No.3. After the event, he expressed pride in his team, saying, “It’s not just about me, but the family we have built at our restaurants. I’m so proud of my team and what we have achieved together.”
As the list was revealed, food enthusiasts and critics alike were analyzing the rankings, comparing them to previous years and noting any new entrants. While some restaurants managed to hold onto their spots from last year, others had dropped down the list, making way for newcomers. The culinary world is always evolving, and it’s a testament to the talents of the chefs and their teams that they continue to innovate and push the boundaries of gastronomy.
