Chef Gaggan Anand has made a big comeback. His Bangkok restaurant, Gaggan, just grabbed the No.1 spot on the Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2025 list, presented by S.Pellegrino and Acqua Panna at the Grand Hyatt Seoul in Seoul.

After winning four years in a row from 2015 to 2018 with his first restaurant, Anand is back at the top—this time with his new spot in Sukhumvit. The restaurant is famous for its fun and creative dining experience, where a small group of lucky guests get to enjoy bold flavours, exciting dishes, and even Anand’s personal playlist.

The highlight of Gaggan’s experience is its cosy 14-seat chef’s counter, where guests get a front-row seat to the action. The atmosphere changes throughout the night with shifting lights and an energetic soundtrack, making the meal feel like a performance. Anand’s bold personality comes through in a 22-course tasting menu that combines modern techniques with global ingredients, giving Indian flavours a fresh twist. Each dish tells a story, making the dining experience memorable and exciting.

“I think the year is wrong. It was 2015 when I first got this,” Anand joked on stage. “When I was young I never imagined Asia could be a gastronomic hub.”

Gaggan reclaimed the top spot by surpassing 2023 winner, Hong Kong’s The Chairman, which landed in second place. Last year’s champion, Tokyo’s Sézanne, dropped to fourth.

With Gaggan reclaiming its throne, Asia’s fine dining scene continues to evolve, offering bold flavours, innovation, and unforgettable experiences
