New on the Scene: 27°W Brings Indian Culinary Fusion to Orchard

September 19, 2024

Singapore’s challenging dining landscape might be getting press for more closures in recent months, but there is some positive news: 27°W (27 Degrees West), an Indian restaurant that explores the rich diversity of flavours from both Northern and Southern India, is one of the city’s new openings. Located on Orchard Road, 27°W is led by Chef Varun Inamdar, a well-known figure in the culinary world with a strong following on social media and a track record of impressive international collaborations.

Chef Inamdar’s menu at 27°W offers diners a thoughtful blend of traditional Indian dishes alongside more unconventional offerings. One of the highlights is the Kohlapuri Smoked Lamb Rack and Beliram, a lamb dish that showcases a mix of intricate spices without overwhelming the palate.

In a departure from typical Indian fare, 27°W also features dishes like Beef Tartare, a bold inclusion for those looking to try something unexpected. On the sweeter side, the Rasmalai Tres Leches combines Indian dessert traditions with a contemporary twist, which adds a layer of intrigue to an already interesting menu. Pistachio and Honey Semifreddo, which is a combination of pistachio, almonds, cardamom, and brown butter solids, is also available.

The drinks menu complements the food with signature cocktails such as the Masala Milk Punch. The drinks are crafted to pair well with the food, offering a well-rounded dining experience without stealing the spotlight from the dishes themselves.

27°W caters to the Orchard crowd with an inviting space and a menu that feels both familiar and fresh. The restaurant operates from 11:30 am to 11 pm Sunday through Thursday, and from 11:30 am to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.

For those looking to explore a new take on Indian cuisine, 27°W offers something different while staying rooted in tradition. For reservations, the restaurant can be reached at +65 9100 0949.
