MasterChef Singapore judge Bjorn Shen has opened a brand new outlet in Bali’s Petitenget area: Babaghanoush. His new restaurant blends Middle Eastern flavours with fresh Balinese ingredients, making it a notable addition to the Seminyak dining scene.
Bjorn Shen, along with Mathew Woon, co-creator of Singapore’s Artichoke, designed Babaghanoush to offer a relaxed dining experience. The space combines elements of a Japanese cabin with Balinese touches. The menu features Middle Eastern BBQ, made with ingredients sourced from Bali’s markets.
Dishes include Pork Morunos, with different cuts of pork—ear, cheek, belly, and collar—stacked on a skewer and seasoned with North African spices. Another dish is the Roasted King Prawns, served with Kedondong Harissa and Kenari Nut.
Earlier this year, Artichoke, Bjorn Shen’s flagship restaurant in Singapore, moved from Middle Road to New Bahru, just behind Robertson Quay. The new location features custom art on the walls, distinctive light fixtures, and an open kitchen, maintaining the same spirit and flavours that made Artichoke popular. Bjorn’s awesome 4-seater Smalls also moved, and increased capacity to 8 seats.
Bjorn Shen’s journey to becoming a chef and establishing one of Singapore’s most loved restaurants is featured in “Chefs Uncut,” a 6-episode bio series showcasing the best chefs in Asia. The series is available on Netflix and SBS Australia.
If you’re in Bali, Babaghanoush is a place to experience the fusion of Middle Eastern and Balinese flavours. We wish Bjorn GREAT SUCCESS!!!
